Did you know the incidence of cervical cancer has increased dramatically over the past 40 years?

Because of routine screening with PAP smears more cases of cervical cancer are being discovered. These cases are also being found earlier in the coarse of disease. The United States Preventive Services Task Force Recommends a Pap smear on all women that have been sexually active or have reached the age of repeated every three years. Many cases of full-blown cervical cancer can be prevented. A PAP smear can identify pre-cancerous cells on the cervix before they become invasive. These cells can be treated so they do not progress to full cancer. Although the incidence of cervical cancer has increased dramatically, a woman can help protect herself by remembering to get regular PAP smears.
